Production Diary - 3rd meeting

During our third meeting on the 8th January we decided it was time to create our script for the opening scene as this will make our opening scene come together that little bit more.

Script

Scene 1
(Car pulls up)
*Dani gets out of car, checks address
*Knocks on door - no answer - waits
*knocks again
Dani: Mrs Smith? Are you in? It’s Margaret, the district nurse.
*Looks through letter box
Dani: Mrs Smith? Can you hear me?
*Looks through letterbox
*Tries handle and door opens

Scene 2
*hesitantly enters
Dani: It’s Margaret, Polly, I’m coming in.
*Tries light switch – doesn’t work
Dani: Polly where are you?
*Finds candle on table and lights it – begins to walk up the stairs and suddenly there’s a noise from the cellar.

Scene 3
*Slowly steps back down stairs
Dani: Polly is that you? (Worried)
*opens the door to cellar and begins walking down the steps
(Doors shuts quickly behind her – sound of breathing and the candle is blown out)

By doing this script it helped us to have a clear idea of our idea allowing us to start picturing the opening scene much clearer.

Production Diary - 2nd meeting

On the 18th December our group had our second meeting in which we discussed our task and decided to change our idea in order for it to be more successful and realistic. we changed our idea to base it on the fact a old woman was being visited by a new district nurse. in order for this is work efficiently we decided to change the location and set it in Kirtlington.

These pictures below show the new location:

Also during this second meeting we also made a new production schdule:

By making a production schdule helps me and group to be more organised as it indicates when our filming will take place, the costumes we will as well as the props we will need for each scene.

Production Diary - Time scheduling

In order to keep our opening sequence structured and organised as well as ensuring it is completed on time, we will be using a time schedule.

Below is the time schedule we will be using:

Also on the meeting we had on the 4th December, we agreed and organised a date for filming scene 1 and we arranged for this to be on Friday 19th December after school. We aim to go when the lighting is dark so that we build up the atmosphere to make it appear more scary.

Production Diary - 1st meeting

On the 4th December our group had our first meeting in which we discussed our task.

In this meeting we discussed the location of our opening sequence along with our cast list.

We came to a shared conclusion we are basing our filming in upper Heyford in a house. In the discussion we thought about the different camera shots we could use around the house in order to make the house look threatening and eerie, and how we would use the house.

We chose this house because it can easily look eerie and build up an effect or scariness and threat.

in order to get different angles of the house itself we are going to use we looked up it on Google maps. Below are pictures in which we screenshot from Google maps.

Main task - Pitching our idea

In order to gather all of our ideas we decided to make a presentation in which we could present to the rest of the class in order to pitch our idea. We decided to do this so we could get a response of our idea about our opening scene and improvements in which we could maybe add or change.

In the presentation we decided to include:
  • A synopsis/Brief
  • Mood board - including pictures and words
  • Location - including pictures
  • Characters in which we would use
  • Sound

After pitching our idea the other groups in our class gave us both positive feedback and improvements in which we could make to our opening scene. Someone suggested we turn our camera like somebody else is viewing the couple sat down. This gives the audience the impression that somebody is being watched.
